ASD BAND: THE MOVIE follows the members of ASD Band as they embark upon the difficult journey of writing and recording their first album, and ultimately performing their first public show. Along the way, they learn to navigate a world foreign to them by finding strength in others who share the same challenges.
Life on the spectrum has many individual challenges, but together, anything is possible.
ASD BAND: THE MOVIE will broadcast on PBS next year but you are invited to this special virtual premiere of the film. Enjoy the show!
ASD Band, featuring four talented performers on the spectrum – vocalist Rawan Tuffaha, vocalist and lead guitar Jackson Begley, keyboardist Ron Adea and drummer Spenser Murray – was formed in 2019.
The band debuted in grand style, playing alongside Roger Hodgson and a 43-piece orchestra for a performance of ‘Give A Little Bit.’ After recording cover songs including the Imagine Dragons ‘Follow You’ which the Dragons’ drummer called “such a great and inspiring performance,” ASD Band composed and arranged their first EP, ‘Fireflies’. Profiled by the likes of NPR, CBC and Toronto Star, the band has played some of the biggest stages in Canada including Massey Hall and the CNE. In 2023, ASD Band was chosen to be on ‘Canada's Got Talent’, receiving four “yesses” from the judges.
