Film Synopsis:
Born a little over 36 hours apart, Justin Skeesuck and Patrick Gray are blessed with a lifelong friendship. Their lives have been intertwined for over 45 years and have brought them many adventures. Justin, who lives life with a progressive neuromuscular disease and manages life from a power wheelchair, had the urge to tackle the historical pilgrimage, the Camino de Santiago across northern Spain. When asked what he thought about the 500-mile journey, Patrick responded, “I’ll push you!”
Every year, the Camino de Santiago brings hundreds of thousands of hikers and pilgrims from all countries of the world. Sadly, the global pandemic has brought this 1,000-year-old pilgrimage to a standstill. Without income, many Camino albergues (Spanish hostels) have been forced to shut their doors.
Camino For Good is an organization dedicated to keeping the Camino alive. They have developed an app that allows pilgrims to take detailed virtual Camino’s during the pandemic. The team at Camino For Good commits 75% of their net income to aiding the albergues. They have already helped 12 albergues make it to summer, and we aim to help at least 7 more.
Together, with their passion and generosity, we have created this virtual screening of our film. All proceeds from ticket sales and all donations will benefit albergues along the Camino.
On average, $3000 is needed to keep an albergues open. This means we need to raise $21,000. Together, we can do this!
As a special thank you to attendees, we will be holding an Ask Us Anything Q&A on April 15th with the film's subjects, Justin Skeesuck and Patrick Gray.
Be sure to make it — we know how to have a good time!
