Blacklisted by the Gestapo soon after being drafted into the military for his open disdain for the Nazis and "unsoldierlike attitude", Peter Ertel would not only miraculously survive World War II but would also become a U.S. Government agent. Later on, he would be regarded as family by his Jewish employers.

"The Unimaginable Journey Of Peter Ertel" is a unique and riveting account of the life of a man who defied insurmountable odds in an unforgiving environment and who later found peace in America. The film combines archive footage – much of which has never before been shown – with Ertel’s own brave recounting of his extraordinary odyssey.

More about the film can be found on the film's website.

Though the film can be streamed for free, we ask that you please consider making a donation. Proceeds will go toward supporting DANK Haus and the German American Heritage Center in their mission to preserve German heritage and culture, and toward helping "The Unimaginable Journey of Peter Ertel" reach wider audiences.

Stream the film and attend the Q&A session on this Show&Tell event site. Frequently asked questions (FAQs) about watching the film, and other aspects of using the Show&Tell event site, can be found here
